FAVORITE BRAVES PLAYERS OF THE 1970'S
#31 RICO CARTY
ATLANTA BRAVES1966-1972
Rico "The Beeg Boy" Carty's two best seasons with the Braves were the two years before I started watching baseball. .342 in 1969 and .366 and a batting championship in 1970. It was pretty cool having the TOPPS Batting Leaders Card below with a listing of a member of the Atlanta Braves as batting champion. Carty missed 1971 with an injury before returning to the Braves in 1972 for only 86 games. My memories of Carty playing in a Braves uniform are vague at best. He spent most of 70's in the American League as a DH. But whenever I saw him, I'd think of that 1970 batting leaders card from my favorite TOPPS set..
