FAVORITE BRAVES PLAYERS OF THE 1970'S
#39 VIC CORRELL
ATLANTA BRAVES 1974-1977
I really like the above card of Vic Correll. He just looks like he doesn't give a damn about anything. Vic was always the definition of backup/utility/part-time catcher to me. His best home run year was 1974 when he hit 11, including two against the Phillies on May 16, 1975. He served as Johnny Bench's backup with the Reds at the end of his career, replacing Bill Plummer who is probably even a better example of a backup/utility/part-time catcher come to think of it.
Since I try to mention all the links these players have to the state of Georgia I would be remiss if I didn't say that Vic attended Georgia Southern University.
