#33 PAUL CASANOVA

FAVORITE BRAVES PLAYERS OF THE 1970'S
#33 PAUL CASANOVE
ATLANTA BRAVES 1972-1974

Despite never hitting more than .216 during his three years with the Braves, I still think the Braves got the better end of the "Trade of African-American catchers" deal for Hal King before the beginning of the 1972 season. Paul had a real off-beat catching style as I remember him pointing his foot straight towards the dugout. So he gets extra style points here for his originality. He also gets most of the points for this rating by being the catcher of Phil Niekro's no-hitter on August 5, 1973. He also hit a home run in that game for good measure.
