FAVORITE BRAVES PLAYERS OF THE 1980'S
#30 MIKE STANTON
ATLANTA BRAVES 1989-1995
ATLANTA BRAVES 1989-1995
The Braves teams of the 1990's sent five teams to the World Series. This is a mind-blowing number to think about as someone who grew up as a fan during the 70's and 80's. But how do we rate those important 90's players who also played for the team in the 1990's? I'll just do the best I can and clump them all together.
COMING IN AT #10 ON THE LIST-
"BRAVES PLAYERS FROM THE 90'S
WHO ALSO HAPPENED TO PLAY IN THE 80'S"
-Mike Stanton
Mike Stanton, promising rookie |
80's resume-Mike pitched 20 games during the 1989 season. He saved seven games and had an ERA of 1.50, foreshadowing a successful major league career.
90's resume-Stanton was more of a middle reliever and one of those guys who came in to get out a left-hand batter throughout much of his 19-year major league career. In 1993, his one year as a closer, he saved 27 games during the Braves division-winning season. Mike went on to pitch in more major league games than anyone except for Jesse Orosco.
