FAVORITE BRAVES PLAYERS OF THE 1980'S
#37 OZZIE VIRGIL
ATLANTA BRAVES 1986-1988
Catcher Ozzie Virgil came over to the Braves in the Steve Bedrosian trade. His best year by far was 1987, when he hit 27 home runs. He had three two-homer games that season, including two home runs against Orel Hersheiser on September 13, which were the only Brave runs of that game. He slumped the year after that and his major league career was pretty much finished after that.
Former Oriole Ozzie Virgil Sr. was the father of the Braves catcher Ozzie Virgil Jr. |
Former 50's televsion star Ozzie Nelson was not related to either Ozzie Virgil. |
