#111 TONY BRIZZOLARA

FAVORITE BRAVES PLAYERS OF THE 1980'S
#111 TONY BRIZZOLARA
ATLANTA BRAVES 1978-1984

AND ON THE LIST WITHIN A LIST...
COMING IN AT #9 ON THE
"BRAVES GUYS I INCLUDED IN THE 70'S LIST AND WASN'T GOING TO INCLUDE ON THE 80'S LIST BUT NOW I HAVE TO SINCE I DECIDED TO LIST EVERY SINGLE PLAYER THAT WORE A BRAVES UNIFORM DURING THE 1980'S"

Tony Brizzolara had some good starts for the Braves during the 1979 season, but was sent back to the minor leagues before resurfacing for the team in 1983. He won one game that year and one game in 1984, a winning start against the Cardinals on August 18, 1984. He finished with eight wins for his Brave (and major league) career. He did win 74 games as a AAA pitcher, most of which were as a Richmond Brave.

Disturbing SI cover of another Italian baseball
player named Tony, Tony Conigliaro.

  1. Stan Bahnsen hit his only ML homer off Brizzolara in 1979. Stan was about 35 years-old and Tony was 22.
